Report:
We were just too strong for a plucky but outgunned Bishopsgate team. Had it not been for some interesting refereeing decisions from the ref (me) it would have been a big score. All the boys played with a lot of flair and for the first time we had some creative passing moves with some lovely running tries. Well done boys, 8 tries and 3 conversions. Man of the Match: Max Melser, never gave up and chased every ball and put in the biggest tackles. Pride in performance 10/10. The Elk

Report:
Victory is ours!

A good win for the B's today. After conceding an early try the boys defrosted and started to play some good rugby. Most of this match was 'end to end stuff'.

Nearly all of the trys were made due to long mazy runs that cut straight through some less than robust tackles.

At 4 trys each at half time I wondered how this match would end. I did feel confident even though we lost Biggar just before the match due to an A team player losing his shorts.

The Bishopsgate team had some big and mobile boys but we had some feisty players today too. Weiss (who scored 3 wonderful trys) played with passion and determination and Gupta (who scored 2 trys) ran the socks off the opposition.

Koutsabeloulis played with intelligence, always waiting calmly for his chance to receive the ball. Logan was an ever present threat due to his pace as was the newly promoted Morley.
Taechamahapham played with a smile on his face throughout this match- marvellous.
Murray the brave played like a captain should and Felce finished off the win with a great try to make it 7:6.

All said and done well done boys.

Report:
An excellent game. Papplewick were strong from the start to finish. Harry Bunbury was quick to score within minutes of the game and soon afterwards several boys decided to take his lead and run into space. Whenever there was an opportunity to make a break Papplewick were working hard to score as many tries as possible. The team seemed a lot more together today and the rucking was impressive.
Some excellent tackling was seen by Jack Woods, Angus Smith and Matthew Ball. Hashim Ahmed also joined the A team today and made an excellent run in the second half and was so close to scoring a try. Well done boys - a top performance!
Overall Sam Storey scored (4) tries, Harry Bunbury (2) and Oscar Wiszowaty (1).

Report:
We were delighted with the prospect of reviving an old fixture against our Headmaster's prep school, not least in the challenge of finding Mr Bunbury's leaving photo on the honours board, circa 1978! However, the sunny weather and the warm welcome were not matched by our on-field performance, particularly in the first half. Paltry tackling, handling errors, poor support play and unforgivably, a general lack of aggression blighted our first half performance and cost us dearly. Once again, we were staring into the abyss, trailing 15 nil at the break. A massive rocket from both coaches had a positive and evidently, purging effect, as the boys really got it together in the 2nd half and played some positive, winning rugby.

We had all the possession: the forwards rucked superbly and dominated the tight-loose and set phases with superb pick and drive play and the backline started running with some sense of conviction, albeit naively. Three superb tries from a rampant and brave Tom Lant lifted the spirits of everyone, including the scoreline: 17-15 in Papplewick's favour and four minutes to go. We couldn't hold the kick-off and the scrum was awarded to Woodcote. Driving play saw the hosts take the ball upfield, and another knock-on from us resulted in another scrum, Woodcote's put in. A minute to go and a cheeky win for us seemed tangible; uncompromising defence would have assured it! The win was ours! But no; the opposition simply ran the ball wide and their danger man, whom we should have stuck to like glue, shrugged off two tackles and sauntered over in the left hand corner for the winning try. Game over. Disappointing but character building. Men of the Match: Tom Lant, who lead the way with courage, guts and complete dedication scoring a hat-trick and James Burrows, who was solid and towering in the lineouts and rucks.

A strong performance by the boys today and a pleasing win. Well done boys. We still need more structure in the back line and we must work more as a team. The team talk at half time was pass before the contact because our handling is good, but still we carry into the tackle? Boys, you are better than that! However, a win is a win so why am I moaning? I must be a perfectionist?
Keep up the good work boys!

Result: SJB 280 - P 220

Report:

After 6 changes to the team on the day, we were finally set! Fresh after the Half Term break, the boys swam their socks off. We started incredibly well, with 2/3 wins in the IM events - well done to Matthew Ball and Ga Kitada for two super swims. This was followed by another victory from Tom Prentis in the Backstroke event shortly after. Sadly, that was the last of our individual triumphs and we had to be content with a plethera of 3rd and 4th places. By the end of the individual events, SJB were leading 168-132.

The boys battled bravely against an always mightly SJB team with only the U9 Freestyle team managing to steal a 1st place.
Great swims from the Morley Bros. Alex AShishkarev and Matthew Ball, to name a few and
a big Thank you to Ayo Oshin, Christopher Lee and Angus Smith, who all stepped in on the day.

The final result may never have been in doubt but Papplewick showed grit and enthusiasm
throughout - well done boys. One day we'll win...one day!!!

Thank you also to all of the parents who came to support us - and to Mrs Burningham who took care of the scary spreadsheet/points system! Much appreciated.

Report:
It is always difficult to get the balance right when playing a school with smaller numbers of boys and to choose a team to match on strength. We were a much stronger unit and we began by bashing our way through St Andrews to score our first couple of tries. We were in danger of getting it horribly wrong but I was pleased to see our boys respond to Mr Powis and my call to play a 12 man game, supporting each other in the tackles, rucking in numbers and keeping possession through many phases before scoring some good tries. The game, particularly in the second half, was played in a fantastic spirit and St Andrews had some good strong runs at us. Their scrumhalf and flyhalf, in particular, gave us a good run for our money with some excellent tackling being needed to stop them. Man of The Match Raphael Jimenez Maiquez. Pride and Performance 8/10.

Man of the Match: Khalid Alao
Today's match was really exciting and a pleasure to referee. The boys demonstrated some beautiful skills today and not a single player could be faulted for putting in any less than 100% effort. I was delighted with the sense of team spirit and the boys' ability to come back after conceding three tries at the start of the match. There were some beautiful runs from Krish, Peter, Ally, Hashim and Benjamin, and some true grit and determination shown by Finn, Krish and Jamie, our unsung heroes who battled constantly from the very beginning. Our man of the match today is Khalid, for showing such tremendous effort and spirit, driving forward, chasing back and encouraging his team mates. Well done boys - a great performance today! A special thank you to all of the parents who came to support. CM

Report:
In many respects, the result was more imporant than the performance today. Having lost two games on the bounce, then had two called off due to Siberian conditions, it was nice to see that our Soviet connection came good on the day, with the Turkmenistan express, Atabayev, scoring two tries and Russian's own Nikogosov bagging a Lomu-esque effort from his own 22 line.

Alex Yi opened the scoring with a great pick-up at number eight, and Prentis converted all four tries. The performance itself was a little stodgy, partly due to silly errors, partly due to a half-term that probably involved more Playstation that rucking practice, and in truth we could have scored significantly more points if we had put our chances away.

That said, this is very much a 'glass half-full' result, and we must focus on the positives. A sterner test awaits us on Saturday, yet with Sister's injury bed looking lighter by the day, we're in with a sniff.

Report:
This was a first visit to the stunning setting of the St George's playing fields set against the backdrop of Windsor Castle and complete with stream, herons, swans and kites. The rugby was less picturesque and ultimately two ill-matched teams fought out a war of attrition at the breakdown too frequently followed by passes to a couple of surprisingly quick backline players who wended their way through a defence that simply could not catch them. Despite the lesser height of the Papplewick forwards we won a good many of the scrums by dint of sound technique and body position, even when the put-in was not at right angles to the perpendicular. Occasionally taken aback by aspects of the opposition's demeanour the boys rallied to each other throughout and went down beaten but not bowed. Several boys might have deserved the man of of the match award - the Hashim twins for their fearless approach to the opposition, irrespective of their size, David Ramsay for his darting runs and determination, Afiq Rozhan for some hard running at fly-half and Alex Hall for determination on the tackle well-beyond his weight. Ultimately though it was a delight to see a more confident Guangsi Chen starting to emerge as a powerhouse in the game, as well as contributing to the performance by scoring both of the Papplewick tries.
An impressive effort from a most personable bunch of boys. Pride in performance: 8/10.

Report:
Not one of our better performances but the boys did improve. Admittedly, St. Andrews were a strong outfit with a number of powerful players in various positions. However, we have more to offer than we did. Atticus Evans Lombe was the pick of the players but we must have greater awareness of the position we are playing. Please boys, do not all get sucked into the ruck! It cost us a couple of tries. The step up to 12 a side was a difficult transition for the boys but we must not have excuses. Lets see this as valuable experience for next year when we play colts rugby.

Report:
This was the best rugby that I have seen this side play. St Andrew's have had an unbeaten side who play some very drilled, attractive rugby. The reff was excellent and kept the game very close, we were looking down the barrel of a big gun but he made sure that the shots that were fired at us were blanks. Thank you to him.

This was the first time we saw the backs linking with the forwards with everyone being afforded an opportunity to contribute to the game. Rameses scored our only try with Jack converting. My Man of the Match was Michael Ball who never missed a tackle , caught nearly every ball that came his way, ran with courage and determination and passed very well. Pride in performance 7/10.

We must learn to go forward when we have the ball, as far too often we drifted sideways to be tackled behind our own advantage line. Our decision making at scrum half and fly half was poor this game and we are going to have to work on this urgently!
