Science

The science department is exceptionally well resourced, including two recently constructed state-of-the-art laboratories. Our pedagogical approach emphasizes practical and dynamic learning, prioritising experimentation and investigative work whenever feasible. The syllabus encompasses Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, along with scientific inquiry. From Years 2 to 6, the curriculum adheres to the guidelines set by the National curriculum and the Common Entrance 11+ syllabus. This ensures that our students are well-prepared to meet the requirements of the Common Entrance 13+ Syllabus. In Years 7 and 8, the scholarship curriculum builds upon the CE syllabus, delving deeper into subjects, and necessitating a broader comprehension of the covered topics. In addition, students in Year 7 and 8 utilize their individual laptops, employing OneNote for the completion of written class assignments and Excel for data entry, graphing, and interpretation derived from their investigative and experimental undertakings.

Our renowned Herpetology Club captivates students with its diverse collection of creatures, including two distinct snake species, bearded dragons, and other fascinating specimens. Moreover, our scientific endeavours extend to the construction and launch of rockets soaring up to 1000ft in the air.
