Michaelmas Term

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We start the new school year with our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, held on one of the Saturdays in September. The baked goods – whether shop-bought or homemade, sweet or savoury – are generously donated by our wonderful school community.  This Saturday afternoon is a great opportunity to catch up with friends, meet new parents, and come together in support of a very worthwhile cause.

POP Pub Quiz

The Pub Quiz is an unforgettable evening hosted by the brilliant professional quizmaster, Lesley Brewis, who is ready to challenge your brains with a mix of intriguing and amusing questions. It is a night of fun, laughter and friendly competition, accompanied by a mouth-watering curry dinner. Our much-loved round of true-or-false questions about the teachers is guaranteed to deliver plenty of laughs and a few surprises!

Lent Term

Wine Tasting

The Wine Tasting makes its comeback in February. The doors open at 7.00pm, with a glass of prosecco on arrival, followed by a tasting experience of Italian wines, each carefully paired with matched canapés and Italian nibbles. An engaging wine tasting talk by an award-winning sommelier, along with fun games and quizzes, promises a truly memorable evening.

Summer Term

Hog Roast

The Hog Roast for the boys is one of the most eagerly anticipated and popular events in the school calendar. The sun miraculously always seems to shine, and there is plenty of fun for the children, including (but certainly not limited to) Land Zorbs, Laser Quest and the Bungee Run, as well as popcorn, ice creams and candy floss. It truly is an event for the whole family – there is even a Papplewick Dog Show, giving the family pooch the chance to sashay around the show ring. For the adults, there’s afternoon tea, the ever-popular hamper raffle, and a couple of cricket matches to enjoy, including the much-loved Year 4 mums versus sons match.
A sumptuous barbecue lunch is served, featuring the eponymous hog, burgers, vegan sausages and delicious salads. Gates open at 12 noon, with festivities winding down at around 4.00pm.

Summer Ball

The hottest ticket in town, the Papplewick Summer Ball is a black-tie event that gives everyone the chance to dress up and celebrate the end of the school year in style. The evening begins with prosecco and canapés on the Bursar's Lawn, followed by a three-course dinner and plenty of dancing. The marquee opens at 7.00pm, with carriages at midnight.
