It was another brilliant cricket game between the Papplewick staff and the fathers during last week's Cricket Week. Whilst a wet week, it was great to get this historical game on and it was well worth it! Neck and neck right until the last over or two of the game, both teams played in a wonderful spirit - friendly and competitive - showing the boys exactly how the game should be played! Whilst the staff narrowly lost this year, they will be eagerly awaiting next year's fixtures to get the trophy back! Hog Roast 2026 What a fantastic day at Papplewick's annual Hog Roast! From Mr Bunbury bravely taking his place in the stocks and being pelted with wet sponges, to our Young Entrepreneurs selling their creations, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The mums v sons and fathers v sons cricket matches were played in great spirit, the dog show was as popular as ever, and the inflatables kept the boys entertained throughout the day. With wonderful food, music pumping across the grounds and families enjoying the sunshine together, it was a truly joyful occasion. It was particularly special to welcome not only our current boys and families, but also so many former pupils returning from their senior schools to catch up with friends and staff. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success, especially the POP (Parents of Papplewick) team for working tirelessly behind the scenes to make everything run so smoothly! Geography Recycling Project Congratulations to our Year 4 winner, Max, whose creativity and environmental awareness impressed us all! During half term, Max completed litter picks on two beaches in Devon, collecting an array of discarded items including rope, a golf ball, plastic lids and many other objects washed up by the sea. Can you spot anything else hidden within his creation? With the help of his artist aunt, Max transformed this waste into a stunning piece of artwork, mounted on a broken kitchen cupboard dooran outstanding example of upcycling and giving unwanted materials a new lease of life. A fantastic project that highlights both creativity and the importance of caring for our environment. Well done, Max! We were extremely fortunate to have Italy international cricket Marcus Campopiano @coach_campo in yesterday to deliver a number of batting masterclasses as part of our first ever Cricket Week. Even with the weather around, the boys absolutely loved the sessions and by the end of each we had many cricketers who were absolutely launching the ball! Marcus even had time for a few signatures and to play a game or two of square cricket! Edward, our captain of cricket, presented Marcus with a Papplewick cap at the end of play, an honorary Stag for life!
